April Mystery Project #3 {Quilted Star Pillow}

Hi there! Today I'm sharing our last April Mystery Project! I can't believe it's the end of April! Where did this month go?! Alright, let's get to it!

Quilted Star Pillow:

I have an obsession with stars and pillows.  So I thought it would be fun to combine the two and make this fun pillow!  Heaven knows I have enough pillows, but really what is one more?  They are great for adding pops of color in your home, and the great thing about them, is that when you are sick of it, you just take the cover off, and put something new on!

I love how it turned out! The prints in this fabric line are so saturated with color and they just make me happy!

"One of Those Days' Mini Quilt

Hi, I'm Heather from Quilts Actually, and I'm excited to be a part of Fort Worth Fabric Studio's Mini Mania!

Warning: My mini is not a quick and fun mini.  It is an exercise in precision cutting and piecing.  If you enjoy that type of piecing, it is fun, but you need to have a consistent scant 1/4" seam allowance for this to turn out.  However, if you are up for the challenge, I think it is quite a striking design!

This is called the "One of Those Days" mini, because I had a lot of those days while making this small quilt!  I love the finished project, but it just seemed like everything was working against me finishing successfully, and this is not a project that has a lot of room for error.

If you follow me on Instagram (@QACreations), you will have seen some of those days I had... and don't look too closely at the finished product or you'll see one of those days I missed!

Fabric Frenzy Friday #60

Happy Friday! :) My sewing space and I have a date today. I am more than slightly embarrassed at how messy my sewing room has become.  I am very messy when I am sewing or creating anything for that fact! I get in the zone, and the last thing I want to do is clean up!  It gets to the point where I can no longer see my sewing table, and so I have to clean in order to sew!

I also have a little two year old helper that loves to hang out with me when I sew.  She mostly takes fabric off my shelf and hides it places, and then loves playing with spools of thread...so I've got thread and fat quarters spread all over that need to be put back into their proper places.  So I'm not sure how much sewing I will get done this weekend, but at least I will have a clean space when I am ready!

I hope you all have a fun filled weekend full of sewing!!

April Mystery Project 2 {Hexie Mini Quilt}

Hi there! It's time for our second Mystery Project of the month! This time we are making this fun Hexie Mini:

I have recently fallen in love with making hexies, and thought it would be fun to do a small project with these addicting little shapes! :)

The great thing about making hexies, is that you can take them on the go! If I know I will be taking a long car ride, or maybe waiting for my daughter at dance practice I will take my hexies along with me and stitch them up!  They can be very relaxing to make, and I really enjoy stitching them when I'm on a netflix binge!

Alright, let's get started!

You Are Tweet {Mini Quilt}

Well helloooooo! I’m Wendy , the owner and designer behind Sugarlane Designs. I’m a wife and mother to one nearly-21 year old and two fur-children, one moodle named Ralph and one moggy named Charlie. We live in a tropical North Queensland sugar cane district (hence the name) in the northern part of Australia, where temperatures rarely go below 23 degrees Celsius and often hover in the low 30s. I’m a former teacher turned quilter/stitcher/designer and always blogger, who just loves to share so I was over the moon when I was asked to participate in Fort Worth Fabric Studio’s Mini Quilt Mania. Now, with my love of stitching, I just HAD to incorporate a stitchery into my mini.
I chose four fabrics from the AdornIt range of fabrics….. aren’t they just adorable? Tweet little birdies all over the place…..therefore…”You Are Tweet!” was born. Finished Mini Quilt size is 18 ½ x 16 ½ The requirements for this mini are:

April Mystery Project 1 {Quilted Zipper Pouch}

Hi there! Today I am sharing our first April Mystery Project:  A Quilted Zipper Pouch! I hope the idea of a zipper doesn't scare you too bad! I promise this is as easy as it gets when installing a zipper! This is a great starting point when learning how to install zippers!

I decided to make this pouch to store English Paper Piecing supplies! So I made the pouch a little longer to give me the space that I need to keep all my odds and ends in one place! The great thing about this is that you can just pop this right in your purse and you can take your paper piecing anywhere!  We will be learning how to do hexagons next week for our next project! So stay tuned!! :)

I decided to quilt this pouch to give it extra texture and also so you wouldn't have to use interfacing, and could use batting!  Also, I'm not sure if you can spot my mistake, but my birds are facing the wrong direction!!  I about had a meltdown when I turned my zip pouch right side out and realized my mistake! I thought I was so careful at making sure the print was going the right direction, but this fabric got the best of me this time!  I decided not to re-do the pouch so that you could learn from my mistake!  When working with directional fabric you really do need to be extra careful!

 Alright  friends, lets get started!

Copper Boom! Mini Quilt

Copper Boom 1, by The Cozy Pumpkin
Hi there, everyone! I am Amanda, and I am thrilled to be a part of Fort Worth Fabric Studio's Mini Quilt Mania! I am a mom, quilter, and avid Gilmore Girls fan...hence the title of this little mini. This is a super fun pattern that plays with varying shades of solids which, in turn, creates an interesting multilayered design far beyond the basic block itself. Let's get started, shall we?

Arrow Bird Mini Quilt

Hello, I'm Afton Warrick from Quilting Mod. It is my honor to join the Fort Worth Fabric Studio for Mini Quilt Mania! My 18" x 18" paper-pieced mini is a reflection of my taste for modern fabrics and the southwestern region where I reside. I've paired April Rhodes' Wanderer and Maureen Cracknell's  Wild & Free for Art Gallery Fabrics, with coordinating Kona solids in "Arrow Bird".

Daysail Mini

Hi there, my name is Nettie, and I am Lindsey's mom! I test most of Lindsey's pattern's that she develops, and I also sew up a lot of the FWFS samples.  I was thrilled when Lindsey asked me if I would like to design a mini quilt for the blog! So here it is:
24.5" x 24.5"
 I used Bonnie and Camille's Daysail for the quilt, and I love how it turned out.  I love this fabric line and the way the prints all blend so well!

Alright, lets get started!

Wind Sail Mini Quilt

Happy Spring! It's finally here! I am so excited to share this very summer inspired mini quilt with you today as part of Fort Worth Fabric Studio's Mini Quilt Mania series! Lindsey asked me if I would be interested in designing a mini to share on the blog and could pick from any of their fabrics that they had in the shop. Umm, heck yeah! I knew I wanted to play with Bonnie and Camille's Day Sail line so I selected a charm pack and some coordinating prints and started planning. Wind Sail Mini
Wind Sail Mini
I was inspired to make this mini after I recently spent a wonderful weekend in the mountains in Utah sewing my heart out. I not only got to spend the weekend surrounded by the beautiful Day Sail collection (sponsored by Moda) but because none other than Camille Roskelley was at the retreat. I was really inspired by all of Camille's adorable mini quilts and came up with this fun and really easy mini quilt of my own.... Wind Sail Mini
 I really wanted the blocks to resemble the sail boat's wind sails and I hope I did! This quilt is so fast and easy because it is made up of four paper pieced blocks. No need to worry about cutting and piecing perfect half-rectangles! Yay! So, let's get started!

Starburst {Mini Quilt Mania}

 Hi there! Welcome to Mini Quilt Mania! We are kicking off our month long series today! We have a full schedule of mini quilt tutorials from some of our favorite bloggers! I can't wait to see what they've made!

Today, it's my turn to share a mini quilt!  I had a lot of fun designing this quilt.  I love star quilts.  I am pretty much drawn to any quilt that has stars!  I wanted to share my love of star quilts with you by sharing this fun Starburst Mini Quilt:

I used the most lovely fabric for this mini! It's Milk,Sugar, and Flower by Elea Lutz.  I adore this line of fabric and the vintage vibe it has.  I love the tiny prints and the gorgeous florals in these fabrics. It just reminds me of my grandmother and what she might have sewn with!

Alright let's get started!
