Diaper and Wipes Travel Pouch {Tutorial}

Hi there! I hope you are enjoying your weekend! Today I am going to show you how to whip up this cute and functional Diaper and Wipes Pouch!

This pouch is really simple to put together! I saw an idea like this on Pinterest, but it had a zipper top.  I decided to change this one up a bit by adding a magnetic snap.

This pouch would be an awesome gift for a new mom, or even a mom with more than a few kids! I have three kiddos, and one of them is still in diapers.  She's at the age where I don't need to take a diaper bag with me, but I still need to carry a diaper and wipes just in case.  So this little pouch is the perfect thing to tuck into my purse, so I don't have to carry a diaper bag anymore!

So what do ya say, let's make one!

Supplies:
1 - 6.75 x 8.5" piece of exterior fabric and interfacing (for the front)
1  - 3.75 x 8.5" piece of exterior fabric and interfacing (for the front)
1 -  8.5" x 12.5" piece of exterior fabric and interfacing (for the back)
1 - 2.5" x 8.5" piece of coordinating fabric and interfacing(for the yellow strip)
2 - 2.5" x 5" pieces of coordinating fabric and interfacing (for the snap strip)
2 - 8.5" x 12.5 pieces of lining fabric (these don't need to be lined)
Magnetic snap
Coordinating thread

Step 1: Cut out your pieces and line your exterior pieces and snap pieces with interfacing.

Step 2: Sew your 3 exterior pieces together.  Press your seams open.

Step 4:  Attach your snap.  Take one of your snap strips and fold in half to find your center, then mark 1.5" from the bottom of the piece.   Then take your back piece and mark the spot with the two small rectangles.  Take your seam ripper and make a tiny slice where you marked both the rectangles.  Insert snap front then place the backing piece one and fold over the prongs.

Step 5:  Now you will take your other snap strip and place it right sides together and sew around three sides, leaving the side opposite of the snap open so that you can flip it right side out.    Once you flip it right side out, press and then stitch a top stitch around the perimeter.

Step 6:  Place your snap strap piece onto the exterior back piece.  Find the center piece of the back and then pin into place.  Sew a 1/4" stay stitch to keep in place.

Step 7:   Attach the other part of your snap to the front of your exterior piece.  Mark the center point and mark 1.5" down.  Follow the same instructions in step 4 to insert the other part of your snap.

Step 8: Place your two exterior pieces right sides together and sew a 1/4" seam along the three sides, leaving the top opened. Clip the corners and turn right side out and and press.  (I forgot to add my other part of my snap to the front of my pouch...so just pretend that it's there in this picture ;)

Step 9:  Take your two lining pieces, pin right sides together and sew a 1/4" seam around the three sides, leaving the top opened. Leave small opening at the bottom. (this is where we will turn everything right side out---I forgot to leave a small opening and had to use my handy dandy seam ripper.)  Clip the corners.  Leave inside out.

Step 10:  With your lining inside out, tuck your exterior inside your lining, leaving the snap in between the two layers.   Pin all the way around, matching the side seams.  Then sew a 1/2" seam around the top of your pouch.

Step 11: Through the bottom opening of your lining, turn everything right side out.  You will then sew the opening shut at the bottom of your lining.  Tuck your lining in your pouch and then give it a good press.

And that's it!  You're done! Pretty simple, right?  Like I mentioned before, any mom with a child in diapers would love to have one of these! :)

Talk to you soon,
